With its 2,750 kW engine, six axles configuration and an ac traction system delivering an impressive 540 kN tractive effort, this is the most powerful diesel locomotive in the Akiem fleet. Designed for heavy haul though its performance also makes it effective for intermodal duties on busy routes. Built for the UK market by GE (now Wabtec), it is very closely related to the UIC gauge Powerhaul locomotive type operating in Turkey and elsewhere.
